Axsys Dental Solutions to Distribute the Medit i500 Intraoral Scanner

Axsys Dental Solutions to Distribute the Medit i500 Intraoral Scanner

Axsys Dental Solutions to Distribute the Medit i500 Intraoral Scanner.

Axsys Dental Solutions has announced that they have entered into an agreement with Medit to distribute their new i5OO intraoral scanner.

“The i500 has been designed with all of Medit’s celebrated and ground-breaking quality in mind and will also prove a game changer on price.” According to a press release on the Axsys Dental Website.

Image Description“Costing just $18,000, with no license fees, Medit has created the i500 to be the essential value-added technology. Using the most technologically advanced high-speed dual camera system for fast, hyper precise photogrammetry, the scanner is powderless, and lightweight with a fine tip for ease of use and patient comfort.”The i500 uses an open CAD/CAM system, meaning operators can export STL files out of the MeditLINK management software and instantly share them with the dental lab, or transfer files and track your progress throughout the digital workflow.

Using an “intelligent scan detecting algorithm”, the i500 is touted as “also easily pick(ing) up where it left off if the scanning process is interrupted, making for a smoother scanning experience.”

With the i500, there’s no need to worry about choppy results because it takes rapid, video-based scans. The final image is smoother, more accurate, and error-free, and its smart technology means its colored scans can distinguish between soft tissue, plaque, and tooth enamel with a precision of 25 microns across the full arch.

“We diligently researched intraoral scanners and found the Medit i500 meets all of our stringent requirements for speed, flexibility, accuracy, and reliability, at a price that is affordable and accessible to all,” stated President Steve Braykovich of Axsys Incorporated. “Its impressive speed and powderless system shortens turnaround time for remarkable increases in productivity – and it clearly stands out as the most the most accurate cross arch IOS that we have investigated. By adding the Medit i500 to our portfolio, we’re able to say we have best-in-class offerings for every stage of workflow. If you’re just starting out and want a cost-effective introduction to all the benefits of digital dental workflow, this is a fantastic option. And for practices looking for a chair-side system, they can come to us for complete solutions that are impossible to beat in terms of performance and affordability.”

NBC Launches Computer-Based Testing for Written Examinations

NBC Launches Computer-Based Testing for Written Examinations

NBC Logo
Tallahassee, FL., June 18, 2018 – NBC is excited to announce that they are launching computer-based testing for the written examinations. The first computer-based testing (CBT) written examinations will be offered beginning July 1, 2018.
“The NBC Board of Trustees has been researching computer-based testing options for some time now,” said NBC Chair, Denise Burris, CDT. “Our goal was to increase accessibility for dental technicians interested in pursuing the CDT examinations, without sacrificing examination security. We saw computer-based testing as an opportunity to offer a greater number of testing locations and more flexible scheduling.”
NBC will partner with Assessment Systems Corporation to offer the CDT and RG written examinations online using a third-party remote proctor. “Computer-based testing with remote proctoring still meets the desire for increased accessibility as candidates will be able to complete their CDT or RG written examinations online at a location, date and time of their choosing,” said NBC Secretary/Fiscal Officer, Dennis Urban, CDT.
Of course, there will be certain rules to ensure the integrity of the process. For example, test takers will be required to select a 30-day testing window during which time they must schedule and complete their examination. Additionally, test takers will be required to test in a private location and no recording devices or test related materials may be on the desk or within reach of the test taker. Test takers must also have a computer available with a webcam, speakers, microphone and internet access to be able to communicate with the remote online proctor. Most importantly, test takers will be required to complete a series of security protocols before, during and after the examination.
“Over the last two years, our focus has been on updating our examinations to keep pace with the changing market trends’,” said Morris Fucarino, CDT, NBC Vice Chair. “In 2017, we launched revised job task outlines, updated examination references, reviewed and rewrote examination questions and revised practical examinations. Now, our goal is to focus on how we can deliver these examinations to make them more convenient, while still maintaining the integrity of the process.”
For additional information on becoming a CDT and the new computer-based testing option for the written examinations, please visit https://nbccert.org/certificants/certified-dental-technician/cdt-application.cfm or contact NBC by email at certification@nbccert.org or by phone at (800) 684-5310.

Henry Schein Commits $250,000 In Health Care Products To America’s Dentists Care Foundation In Support Of Free Oral Health Care For People In Need

Henry Schein Commits $250,000 In Health Care Products To America’s Dentists Care Foundation In Support Of Free Oral Health Care For People In Need

MELVILLE, N.Y.Jan. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC) today announced its commitment to donate up to $250,000 in health care products over two years to the America’s Dentists Care Foundation (ADCF). The donation supports the delivery of free oral health care to people in need and is an initiative of Henry Schein Cares, the company’s global corporate social responsibility program.

With its two-year ADCF partnership, Henry Schein will donate health care product kits valued at $5,000 each, containing gloves, gauze, gowns, and masks. The kits will support the ADCF’s work at up to 50 Mission of Mercy (MOM) dental clinics, which provide free oral health care to people living in underserved communities across the U.S.

MOM events are staffed by volunteer dentists and dental hygienists who provide dental exams, X-rays, fillings, extractions, and instructions on proper oral hygiene to people in need. Dental assistants and lay volunteers also contribute to the efforts in various capacities. According to the ADCF, the clinics it supports see about 70 patients per hour, with each patient receiving approximately $500 in free dental care, on average.

“Mission of Mercy and other charitable dental clinics provide a critical access point for many people and families who rely on us for quality oral health care, so we thank Team Schein for their generous donation,” said Bill Blasing, Executive Director, ADCF. “These supplies will help our volunteer dental professionals to not only provide care for our patients and improve function, but also restore their confidence as well.”

This donation continues Henry Schein and ADCF’s partnership to improve the oral health of people in need by supporting MOM events, as the company made a similar contribution to the foundation in support of 44 free clinics that took place in 2016-17. At those 44 events, volunteer oral health professionals treated more than 60,000 patients and delivered almost $50 million worth of free care.

“We are pleased to continue partnering with the America’s Dentists Care Foundation, as their efforts to expand access to care for people in need align with our mission to ‘help health happen’ for underserved communities,” said Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein. “The health kits we provide will help the volunteer dental professionals at each Mission of Mercy event provide quality care to their patients and help set each person treated on the path to improved oral health, which is deeply connected to overall health.”
